Videos

Mad Professor, leader of the English Dub is an electronic genius who pushes technology limits.

Neil Fraser, of his real name, is ultra-prolific, and one does not count any more the number of albums to his credit on his label Ariwa, of which the series "Dub Me Crazy" and "Black Liberation Dub" are the most famous.

Since the early 80s, he has transcended music genres and is recognized for his quality productions and collaborations with legends Lee Scratch Perry, Horace Andy, but also Massive Attack and many others.

His "live dub" shows are cutting-edge and constantly renewed, and whether accompanied or not, this artist takes his public on a real journey of which only him has secret.

Mad Professor, real name Neil Fraser, is one of the main producers of the second generation of Reggae Dub. He began his musical career in the technical field as an engineer for mixers and amplifiers. He turns out to be a genius of electronic manipulation and very early on knew how to manufacture his own equipment, which earned him his stage name: Mad Professor.

At the turn of the 80s, Mad Professor launched his label Ariwa ("communication" in Yoruba) and soon after, the now legendary "Dub Me Crazy" series which established itself as a reference with its variations of sounds and effects. His productions have greatly contributed to the transition to the digital age that reggae experienced in the 1980s.

He is a very prolific artist, having contributed or produced over two hundred albums and collaborated with the greatest Jamaican and English reggae artists such as Lee Scratch Perry, Jah Shaka, Buju Banton, Johnny Clarke, Horace Andy, Cedric Myton, Jah9, Hollie Cook, U-Roy etc.

Along with his prominent collaborators, Mad Professor began to make his name outside the reggae community and was quickly in demand as a remixer for bands from other music styles. During the 90s he notably remixed tracks from Sade, Jamiroquai, Depeche Mode .. He also became internationally recognized for "No Protection" (1995), a completely reinvented version of the second album of the trip-hop collective Massive Attack, "Protection".

Since his beginnings he has never stopped producing, considering music as a whole, crossing genre boundaries and has become more than recognized, a true living legend.

Mad Professor, often under his label banner , has touring the world stages since the beginning of the 90s. He has performed throughout Europe, but also in the United States and Canada, conquering an ever-increasing public.

On stage, Mad Professor shows the full extent of his talents as an electronic genius and offers cutting-edge and prestigious services. His "Live Dub" sets are undergoing a permanent metamorphosis, whether solo or accompanied by Mc's, musicians etc, he takes his audience, always conquered, into his unique universe!

In recent years, Mad Professor has proven that he is still anchored in the modern era, with among others productions and collaborations like "In the Midst of the Storm" with Jah9, "Queens of Ariwa", "Mad Professor meets Gaudi "," Massive Attack V Mad Professor Part II (Mezzanine Remix Tapes '98) "," Electro Dubclubbing "," Mad Professor vs. Marcelinho Da Lua - Tranquilo Dubs "or even recently" 40 YRS Of Dub - Part 1 and "40 YRS Of Dub - Part 2 "which once again show that Mad Professor is undoubtedly a cornerstone in the history of Bass music!
