Originally from Jamaica, Mikayla Simpson aka Koffee developed a passion for performing at an early age. She made a name for herself in August 2017, when she was just 17, by posting an acoustic version of the track Legend on the internet. A song in tribute to runner Usain Bolt, which the athlete shared on his networks after discovering it. Protected by her mother as a child, she grew up in the quiet Kingston suburb of Spanish Town. Influenced by Bob Marley, Chronixx and Porioje, Koffee is releasing her debut EP Rapture in 2019. A mix of traditional reaggae, rub-a-dub and dancehall punctuates her album. She chose to give her own version of this music, more feminine and positive. She moves away from the violent, explicit and provocative clichés that tarnish it.
