The Twinkle Brothers are an integral part of the history of Jamaican reggae and legends of the golden age of the 1970s. Active as long as the independence of the island (1962), a 60-year career in 2022, they are one of those timeless artists whose hymns resonate in the ears of several generations.

Their rare and memorable concerts are those suspended moments where the musical journey, through a part of roots & culture history takes on all its flavor.

In 2021, this ultra prolific group is once again expanding its anthology discography with albums like "Still Smiling" and "World Crisis" released earlier this year.

Founded in the Falmouth ghetto in Jamaica in 1962, the Twinkle Brothers group was originally made up of three brothers: Ashton, Ralston and Norman Grant. While they are not yet 10 years old, after their first encounter with music in church, they quickly fall in love with it. Without means but ingenious, they then make their first instruments with what they found in the streets, thus cans, plastic bottles, fishing line will become drums and guitars.

They then emerge on the local scene by participating in the "Pop and Mento" competition organized by the government of the time, becoming for two consecutive years champions of their parish. The following year they reached the final in Kingston and won the competition in the "group" category, and in the "solo" category for Norman.

After joining for a short time The Cardinals, with whom they toured in hotels and clubs on the island and gain a good stage experience, the group left for Kingston to record their compositions. In 1966, aged only 16, Norman released his first solo album "Somebody Please Help Me" under the Beverly label. A year later, the Twinkle Brothers' debut single as a group "Mattew and Mark" was born, produced by Duke Reid of Treasure Isle. They then gain notoriety and progressively record for Kingston's biggest labels(Dynamics, Federal Records ...).

In 1970, they founded their own label "Twinkle Music" and released their first album a year later. But it was with "Rasta Pon Top" and the hits "Give Rasta Praise" or "Beat Them Jah Jah" in 1975 that they reached the top of the charts. After embarking on a short solo career, Norman Grant then joined the group Inner Circle then weakened by the disappearance of Jacob Miller, then two years later, he finally found his brothers Ashton and Ralston.

From there, their long career begins and each passing year sees the release of a new album by the Grant brothers, the best known of which are among others "Praise Jah" (1979), "Chant Rastafari" (1989) and "The Youthful Warrior. " (2004). Belonging to the mythical figures of reggae, aligning titles that have become timeless classics ("Rasta Pon Top", "Since I Threw The Comb Away", "Jahoviah", "Praise Jah", "Free Africa", "Jah Kingdom Come", "Africa", "Never Get Burn" ...) the Twinkle Brothers have also worked with the biggest Jamaican producers (Leslie Kong, Duke Reid, Bunny Lee, Lee scratch Perry) and English (Jah Shaka, Mad professor).

This ultra-prolific group has crossed eras and styles by practicing a rare "roots & culture" reggae rockers and gained international recognition over the years, albums and tours. Their career, which has lasted for almost 60 years, has propelled them to the stages of the biggest reggae festivals in the world.

Twinkles Brothers's live concerts, with their sets multiplying the timeless hits, are a musical journey through the history of Jamaican reggae. They bring their music to stages around the world, with English reggae heavyweights such as Barry Prince (percussion), Dub Judah (bass) and Black Steel (guitar) in their backing band. Anthology shows, rare and unforgettable, to see again and again !
