Jah-lil, born on 1 November 1990 in Kingston, Jamaica, discovered his singing talent at the age of six, singing along to songs broadcast on the radio. He went on to establish himself as a rising star by taking part in morning devotions and concerts at Rousseau Primary School. As a student at Jamaica College, he became a member of the school's first choir, All Together Sing Choir. He went on to sing at numerous weddings, funerals and church concerts.
In 2011, Jah-Lil met and partnered with musician and producer John Williams of Almond Productions. He produced, entered and won the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (J.C.D.C.) Gospel Song Competition with the song ‘Weeeping Men’. He also won three section awards for best performance, best arranged song and best lyrics.
His unique vocal style then caught the attention of renowned music producer Danny Brownie of Main Street Records who approached him and recorded and released their first collaborative single in 2014 entitled ‘One Wrong One Right’ which is now being played all over the world.
Jah-Lil's drive is to embody a voice for the voiceless and broken. His songs are about everything he or others experience in life, whether good or bad, as well as songs of love, inspiration, encouragement, hope and solutions.
His role models are Kevin Downswell, Marcus Garvey, Mali Music and Bob Marley.
